ABOUT

HISTORY
The Family has been an integral part of Hong Kong, mainland China, and the wider Asia-Pacific region for more than 150 years. The office's namesake and founder, Sir Elly Kadoorie, arrived in Shanghai in the late 1800s, and together with his brother Sir Ellis, built businesses that became an integral part of the fabric of Asian commerce. From energy and hospitality to property and agriculture, their enterprises grew alongside the cities and communities they served.
In Hong Kong, the Family played a formative role in establishing and expanding cornerstone entities such as China Light & Power (now CLP Holdings) and The Hongkong Shanghai Hotels, Limited (owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels).
Simultaneously, the Kadoorie brothers devoted great energy and resources to education, healthcare, and other charitable causes, notably the Kadoorie Agricultural Aid Association and its base, the Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden, believing that business success should be matched with community benefit.
Now steered by its third generation, SEKSL continues its legacy in stewarding the Family's affairs, sustaining their global business portfolio, and ensuring that both enterprise and philanthropy remain aligned across generations.
From St George's Building in Hong Kong, SEKSL balances continuity with progress, sustaining the values and vision that have defined the Family for more than a hundred years.
